Cash On Delivery

Topics: Postage, Sayonara Sales, Selling Items, Sending Money, Shipping

Did you know that the post office offers chakubarai (着払い) services (cash on delivery, paid by recipient) I often use commercial services like Yamato or Sagawa to send items chakkyubarai to people (like books, CDs, etc.), but if you are shipping across Japan it can get fairly expensive (1,400 yen to 1,800 yen even, depending on distance). Apparently, however, the post office offers a ryokin chakubarai system using its Yu Pack service. You need to fill out a special card at the post office, but Yu Pack will frequently provide you with free envelopes, and they have a "send 10 packages get one free" deal. Given these incentives, the post office is looking better and better. You can also specify one of four delivery times.
