Get Full Service at Branch Post OfficesIn most localities, there are local 'branch' post offices and then the major city post office. Just ask your local post office which is the largest post office in the region. Go there and ask your questions. The big post offices often have services (such as sea-mail "book bags" for a great deal on overseas book shipping) that the small ones do not. If you can't make it to your local big post office, then ask your little post office to call the big one, and get the book for you. (Just say: *** o toriyosete itadakemasu ka? -- Would you please inquire after (get) the *** for me?) Alternately, you can check out the useful and sometimes charmingly mistranslated English homepage of the post office. This might actually have the information that was included in the old book. http://www.post.japanpost.jp/english/index.html Note that postal rates are now getting cheaper on selected services and items, thanks to the transformation of the former post office government office into a public corporation.
