JA Supermarket

Topics: Grocery Shopping

I have recently discovered a great supermarket called Kotarina. It's owned and operated by JA (Japan Agriculture). It's well worth checking out if you see one.

They mainly sell vegetables but also have a small bakery, a kitchen making Japanese dishes, some meat and dairy products. Oh and flowers! The produce is all locally grown and produced. The growers deliver the produce themselves daily so it is FRESH and cheap. Plus I have noticed there is a much greater selection of harder to find items like zuchinni or radishes. You can also buy rice in bulk.

I would imagine each area has one of these supermarkets, probably operating under different names but I wanted to let you know it's cheap and open to the general public. Keep a look out for the big JA signs.
