Let Your Clothes Soak OvernightLoad up your washing machine as you always do. Let the clothes go through the first minute or two of the wash cycle to get the soap dissolved. Turn off the machine and leave the clothes to sit in the soapy water overnight. They come out much cleaner in the morning, especially jeans, socks, and kids' uniforms. You don't need to buy those brightening additives and you can get away with using much less soap. Generally speaking, you can get away with about a quarter to a third less detergent than what is recommended on the box.
