If your kids are still small, it is easy to pick up rain boots at various recycle shops or you can just ask around if anyone has rain boots. Most people are thrilled to get rid of them once their kids have outgrown them. One suggestion is to place a "wanted" ad at the local bank or ward office. 2,000 yen sounds like what you would pay in order to get the "character of the moment." If your kids are still small, they may not mind that the robot (or whatever) is no longer on TV.
