Men, if you happen to be in the Kudanshita area of Tokyo (near Jimbocho, and Kanda), you can get a haircut in 10 minutes for 1,000 yen at CutAlba barbershop.

CutAlba is about 2 minutes' walk from Kudanshita subway station.

This station is served by the Toei Shinjuku, Hanzomon, and Tozai subway lines; nearest connecting station is Nagatacho, two stops away, which is served by the Hanzomon, Yurakucho, Ginza, and Namboku lines; as well as the Marunouchi line (connecting via Akasaka-Mitsuke station).

Coming out of Exit #6, walk straight ahead, staying on the right-hand side of the street, passing the post office. CutAlba is in the next block after the river.

The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; closed Sundays and holidays.

If you have time, celebrate your haircut with a quickie at the Neverland Cafe, a friendly, mellow, traditionally furnished bar with _truly_ delicious snacks. It's midway down the alley that's right after Exit #6 and before the Cafe de Crie coffee shop and post office.

The sen-en barber shops have been popping up everywhere even in the 'burbs, and of course, women can get haircuts too.

Here are four more places in central Tokyo:

1) Between Omote Sando and Shibuya -- on Aoyama dori (Rte. 246) past UN University, just a few doors down from Tribeca (bagels) on the second floor.

2) Kamiyacho -- from St. Albans church, 20 meters toward Tokyo Tower.

3) Azabu Juban -- On the main road just below Shuto Expressway #2 ,between Ichinohashi and Ninohashi in the basement of the 7-11 on the east side of the street.

4) Look for "QB House" locations. One of them is right outside Exit 11, Tameike-Sanno station (2-12 Akasaka), near the Intercontinental ANA Hotel.

There is a 1000 yen hairdresser at Shimotakaido Station in on the Keio and Setagaya lines in western Tokyo. There is also one in Jujo ginza on the Saikyo line.

On Meiji-dori about half way between Ueno and Okachimachi stations there are a couple of 980 yen places, near the Dotour. One of them has a 780 yen special if you go before 10am.
