Tokyo Hamamatsucho Seaman's HallTopics: Accommodations, Travel Located about three minutes from the North Exit of the JR Yamanote Line's Hamamtsu-cho Station and about five minutes from the Oedo Line Daimon station exit, the Tokyo Hamamatsu-cho Seamen's Hall is a fairly reasonable, fairly comfortable place to stay in a great location. The rooms are Japanese-style tatami, with futons, sheets, a TV, and yukata provided. The restrooms and baths (Japanese style) are shared, and quite clean. Drink vending machines, a lounge, a coin-operated laundry, and other facilities (meeting rooms) are provided. Limited overnight parking spaces for a fee are also available. Check-in is from 3pm, and check out at 10am. The curfew is 12am, so this is not really a place for partiers. If you happen to be a sailor or employed in other marine-related pursuits, prices are a bit lower, but for the rest of us, it is Y4000 per person for a single, Y3000 per person for a double, and Y2,500 per person for a triple. They have 4.5, 6, and 10 mat rooms available. Childrens' prices are Y1300, Y1500, and Y1800, depending on the type of the room. To make reservations, call 03-3433-5688. I would suggest having someone who speaks Japanese help, as they do not seem to equipped to handle monolingual (English speaking, that is) travelers. This is, however, a great hidden gem of a place with a great location, though I'd recommend more for families and groups than for Roppongi partiers. Enjoy! (Note: There are some problems with bugs in the rooms.) WJ << Tokyo Cheap Hotels Website | Index | Tokyo International Youth Hostel >> |
