Tokyo International Youth HostelTopics: Accommodations, Travel A place that I have used a number of times this year is the Tokyo International Youth Hostel (http://www.tokyo-ih.jp/). It is great for lone travellers just needing a bed for a night and I don't know if it is as good a deal for people travelling as a couple (you might be able to get a decent room at a business hotel for just 1,000 yen more), but it is centrally located between Tokyo and Shinjuku and Ikebukuro at Iidabashi station, located on the 18th and 19th floors of the kencho building (I think). The views are amazing at night on a clear day, and while you have to share a room (dormitory-style unless you're travelling with a family and reserve the "family room"), bath/shower, and bathroom facilities, for the frugal price, I think it worth it. (You get a spacious locker to store your luggage.) The only drawbacks are the 10:30 curfew (no pub crawls or bar-hopping until the very last trains even though you are oh-so-close to the action), and the requirement that you MUST vacate the premises (even if you are staying more than one night) between 9:30AM and 3PM when they clean the facility. Anyway, this is one of my favorite places to stay as it is clean, convenient, and safe, and probably one of the best deals in all of Tokyo.
