A tad inconvenient and you also stick out a bit when you're doing so. Now he takes one of those tall slim insulated hot drink cups every morning for his morning coffee. It holds the equivalent of about one and a half coffee mugs. I got it at Ito Yokado for about 600 yen. You don't drink from the lid, you just screw off the top and drink directly from it like a mug.
